The old Césis Breweryis a typical late 19th century industrial building. The brewery is deservedly known as one of the oldest in the Baltics. Chronicles mention a brewery at the Castle Manor in 1590. 1878 is regarded as the date of founding of the present brewery. The old brewery building was built at that time of which only the walls remain, along with a tower and weather vane. It is said that in the old days the direction and strength of the wind served to indicate the best days for parching the malt.
